Boys and Girls Head Coach Eric Rovie
Events: Sprints, Distance
Coach Rovie has been a head track coach at Brookwood since 2018, coaching the boys in 2018 and the girls in 2019 and 2020. Coach Rovie ran the 200/400/800 in high school, and prior to joining the staff at Brookwood, he coached Cross Country and Track and Field at Collins Hill High School. Coach Rovie teaches AP Literature and 10th Grade Gifted Language Arts for BHS. Along with the administrative role of Head Coach, Coach Rovie will work with girls sprinters this season.
Assistant Coach Kelly Swanson
Coach Swanson ran XC and Track at St. Pius X High School and ran XC at Georgia College and State University. She started coaching T&F at BHS in 2007 and was an assistant XC coach for 5 years. This is her 10th year coaching track at BHS. This season, she will take over coaching the sprinters after 10 years as the Head Coach. She was the Region 8-AAAAAA Women's Track Coach of the Year in 2015, 2016 & 2017 and the All-County Women's Coach of the Year in 2011 & 2016.
Boys and Girls Co-Head Coach Andre Morez
Coach Morez ran track at Neptune Sr High School in Neptune, NJ and Lincoln University of PA. He is a former indoor county champion and group IV state runner-up at 400m in high school and is a 4-time NCAA All-American and national champion at Lincoln University. He is a former strength and conditioning coach that has been coaching track for 8 years and is USATF level 1 certified.
Assistant Coach Dion Bentley
Events: Sprints & Jumps
This is Coach Bentley’s 9th year coaching at BHS, but he has coached track and field for 12 years. In high school he competed at Penn Hill High School in Pittsburgh where he set the high school national outdoor long jump record which he held for 20 years. He still holds the high school national indoor long jump record. He went on to compete at the University of Florida where he was the SEC long jump champion and was ranked #8 in the world. He will be working with the sprinters and jumpers this season.
Assistant Coach Chris Carter
Event Boys Distance
Coach Chris Carter will be coaching the Boys distance runners this season. Coach Carter actually ran track and XC here at BHS and then went on to run collegiately at UGA. On top of teaching AP Psychology and AP Human Geography, he is also the head coach of the girls XC team and is starting his 12th year coaching track here at BHS.
Assistant Coach Lauren Harrison
Event: Girls Varsity Distance
Coach Lauren Harrison is starting her 5th year coaching both XC and T&F here at BHS. She also ran XC and track at Brookwood. After high school she went on to run at Berry College. She will be working with the distance runers.
Assistant Coach Joe Carter
Joe Carter played basketball in high school and college. He has been coaching for 54 years. He coached basketball for 25 years and has coached track and field for 52 years. He also has experience coaching football, tennis and cross country. He has been coaching at Brookwood for 32 years. He is in the Coaches Hall of Fame for Brookwood, Gwinnet County and the State. He has also won numerous Coach of the Year awards for both XC and T&F.
Assistant Coach Natasha Leeper
Coach Leeper is in her second year as a BHS Throws Coach. She hails from Williamsburg, VA. While in high school, she earned all-state honors in basketball, volleyball, and track & field, and continues to hold the school record in the discus. Upon graduation from high school, she attended Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), where she was a member of the track and field team. She specialized in the throw events but also competed as a middle distance runner. Coach Leeper graduated from VCU with a double major in Information Systems and Finance. She is currently an Operarions Director with the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.
